CONTEMPORARY TEACHING EXPERIENCE

I  have extensive experience teaching all levels from children to professional dancers. I have trained dance students at Trinity Laban (London), University of Ulster and Belfast Metropolitan College, and been a guest teacher in various other dance colleges and professional companies. I have taught dance lovers of all abilities as well as those with disabilities. I have enjoyed teaching dance to all ages, from toddlers to senior citizens and everything in between... because dance is for everyone!!

My class draws from my own training (in Limón-based technique and releasing work, with a few other influences).  I aim to help dancers move fully and freely, with fluidity of motion, clarity of alignment, and a good use of weight and breath.

CREATIVE WORKSHOPS

I can deliver creative dance workshops to all ages and abilities if you would like to have me visit your school, community group or even a hen/stag event. In a dance workshop, people will learn age-appropriate dance skills, then explore their own creativity. I have taught  in mainstream schools, special schools, community centres, senior citizens groups, women's prisons and in a rehab centre for ex-street girls in Brazil.

MOVEMENT COACHING

I offer movement coaching to professional dancers and actors who want to move more efficiently. I draw on my background in Laban movement analysis, and teaching technique through explorations of body mind centring, body connections, body architecture and patterns of initiation and sequencing. I am beginning to work with connections to cranio sacral therapy and generally enjoy helping movers of all abilities find freedom in movement and performance. Contact me for more information and we'll chat about what you want to access in movement, and explore how to find it for your body. Remember, simply repeating your training exercises can't unlock the movement blockages you might have. Only specific work that addresses your movement patterns will help get to the root of your movement questions.

REHEARSAL DIRECTING

I have experience directing rehearsals with various professional dance companies, namely BareBones, Maiden Voyage and Springs Dance Company. I was also co-director of Toot-Toot Productions in Belfast, making work for young children. I enjoy being an outside eye and using my experience of being a dancer and movement analyst to help polish and shape performance work on both professional performers and keen amateurs. As well as dancers, I also have experience coaching actors in movement.
